Job Description Overview: The Adjunct Machine Operations Instructor will be responsible for providing high- quality instruction over manufacturing plant-specified machine operations.  They will create a curriculum that focuses on providing students with the skills and objectives through hands-on, computer based, and /or OJT instruction. The Instructor must report and maintain documentation of students progress, attendance, and performance. Perform other duties that are assigned. The Instructor may be required to work with industry to create a customized machine operation curriculum that fits their needs and schedule. Develop lesson plans and create machine operation activities. The Instructor must have a strong background working in the industrial machine operation industry. They must have a strong passion for teaching, supporting, and preparing students to reach their educational goals.

 

Job Description Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrate how to properly use tools and equipment while instructing students.
  • Be sure to always supervise all hands-on activities.
  • Perform other duties that are assigned.
  • Provide students with a theoretical and hands-on training environment.
  • Instruct students on Autonomous Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance Standards training.
  • Educate students on understanding the procedures for assigned machines.
  • Educate students on the importance of safe working procedures and practices.
  • Educate students on how to perform safety audits of equipment and inspection of the area.
  • Educate students on how to read and use production orders to correctly set up the machine and complete orders as required.
  • Educate students on identifying quality defects and take corrective action (Machine Operation II).
  • Instruct students on performing back-to-basic check, completing machine hour sheet and Production Order as required (Machine Operation II).
  • Instruct students to perform 5S procedures as needed to maintain an orderly, efficient, and safe working environment (Machine Operation II).
  • Educate students on completing any required tags.
  • Provides an engaging, supportive, and positive learning environment.
  • Clearly establishes expectations for learning and achievement.
  • Communicates well with students and staff.
  • Make sure safety measures are used at all times and the learning environment is safe for all students and staff.
  • Stay up to date with industry advancements and standards in machine operations.
  • Plan, develop, teach, and facilitate classes that involve theoretical and hands-on learning where students can gain the knowledge that is needed in machine operations.
  • Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, maintain student progress, performance and records.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program goals and student success.
  • Keep track of students attendance, participation, progress and grades.
  • Able to develop daily lesson plans and design learning activities.
  • Must be able to set up lab equipment for each class and oversee the labs when they are being used by students.
  • May be required to work with industry to create a customized machine operation curriculum that fits their needs and schedule.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Mastery of skill in industrial machine operations.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, cooperative, and dependable.
  • Must be able to work evenings if needed.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Previous teaching or training experience in an industrial field.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • To be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • To be able to lift moderate weights of materials, equipment, and supplies.
