About the job:
OVERVIEW
The Full-Time Connections Director is responsible for fostering a sense of belonging for GCC attenders and guests. S/he will play a vital role creating a pathway for individuals to engage with the church, develop meaningful relationships, and find avenues to contribute to our church body and the broader Kingdom using the gifts that God has given.
CHARACTER
S/he is a spiritually mature believer in a vital, growing relationship with Jesus Christ expressed in a commitment to humble, servant leadership and possesses a heart for the local church and wider kingdom of God.

You find great joy in seeing people connect, grow in their relationship with the Lord and His people, and use their gifts to further the Kingdom. You excel in managing details and projects, making events and processes less stressful and more successful. With a knack for anticipating needs and taking initiative, you understand that while many things can bring someone to church, it is relationships that keep them there. Therefore, you take pleasure in creating opportunities for connection and building relationships within the church family. You are strengthened by teamwork, both a patient listener and strong communicator. While you could work anywhere, using your gifts for God’s Kingdom gives you the most joy and fulfillment. You believe the gospel is the most important message ever, so seeing it advanced and lived out in people’s lives is of utmost importance to you.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Be a warm and energetic presence in the lobby on Sundays, welcoming and connecting with people.
- Recruit and oversee volunteer teams to warmly welcome & engage guests, ensuring they feel valued and connected from their first encounter with the church.
- Host or staff The Welcome event after both Sunday gatherings, and coordinate follow-up for newcomers who want to take a next step.
- Provide training and resources to leaders and serving team members involved in connections-related ministries, empowering them to create a warm and inclusive atmosphere within their respective areas of influence.
- Create effective strategies and systems to integrate attenders and guests into the church community, providing clear pathways for them to connect with groups and serving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of visitors, members, and serving team/volunteer involvement, utilizing technology and software to track engagement metrics and assess the effectiveness of connections initiatives.
- Manage the Membership pathway, including the Beliefs and Distinctives classes, Membership Workshop and Celebration Dinner.
COMPETENCIES
- Strong passion for fostering belonging and connections within a diverse and large congregation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Remembers names and important parts of people’s stories.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in church or community-based organizations.
- Ability to recruit, inspire and motivate serving team leaders to actively engage in connections-related ministries.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach in dealing with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life situations.
- Highly proficient in utilizing technology and software for data management and communication purposes, as well as Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
- A general understanding and value for God’s vision for racial unity and justice.
SCHEDULE
- 2x Per Month – Meet with Community Life Pastor
- 1x Per Month– Attend Community Life department meetings
- 1x Per Week – Attend the weekly All Staff Meetings on Tuesday mornings
- 1x Per Week – Attend the weekly All Staff Prayer Pause
- 1x Per Year – Participate in the All-Staff Retreat, typically in June
- Christmas Eve + Easter Sunday Gatherings
- Sundays required
- As Needed – Initiate / attend project specific meetings
RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to the Pastor of Community Life
- Oversees the Connections Administrative Coordinator
