JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Building Controls Technology Specialist represents CMS Controls by serving as the direct customer contact and is responsible for all specialist systems delivery and development. These tasks include sequence programming, integrations, UI/UX, systems commissioning, and tools development. Technology Specialist will work closely with their team lead, project manager, and installation team throughout a controls project lifecycle.
In this position, you will establish and maintain a positive relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers. In doing so, you will utilize effective oral and written communication skills via phone, computer, and face to face. Job stress will range from moderate to extreme, with an average day being moderately stressful. Many of this roles responsibilities will involve remote work; however, certain tasks will require frequent site visits to ensure team alignment.

Essential Functions

- Perform programming, integration, UI/UX and commissioning on various controls platforms
- Typical product lines include: Distech, Siemens, Honeywell, Niagara, and entroCIM
- This list is not conclusive, Technology Specialist will often come across unknown platforms and are still required to integrate seamlessly into the building software
- Provide guidance and evaluation of project documentation
- Participate in job related meetings; this can range from kickoff to project closeout
- Ensure site is properly commissioned and operational; provide a final report (Exit Report) to the assigned project manager
- Remotely support controls customers along with mechanical service providers
- Participate and lead owner training of controls systems
- Communicate regularly with the all controls teams related to projecets delivery; this includes the installation team, project management, and sales
- Ability to work overtime along with overnight work if requested by controls management staff
- Support CMS Controls financial goals and principles
- Always conform with CMS Controls policies and procedures
- Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions
- Always exhibit professional conduct, whether at the job site or driving company vehicles
- Maintain any necessary licenses or certifications which may apply
- Attend required department meetings
- Attend company or vendor training as required
- Work with and train any CMS Controls helpers/apprentices assigned to your job team
- Complete and build on your Controls Technician Skill Set Tree (Evaluation to be provided by your manager)

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
The Technology Specialist work in mostly in remote (Home/Office), commercial buildings, office buildings, schools, hospitals, government buildings and factories. The worksites may be very hot or cold due to the heating and cooling systems yet to be installed and because some parts of these systems are located outdoors. Working in cramped spaces and during irregular hours is a possibility. Ability to climb ladders will be needed.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position is moderately physical and requires regular use of PCs, walking, some electrical tools, and networking equipment. Although most Technology Specialist work via a PC, some site work may be required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, with typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM hours. Overtime and irregular hours are frequent.
Travel
Weekly travel to CMS Controls locations in the greater Atlanta, GA area is required.
Required Education and Experience
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- At least 18 years old
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in a drug free workplace
- Possess a clean driving record and a current driver’s license
- Strong steady work history with 3+ years minimum performing building controls service / installation
- Operating knowledge of Windows and PC functions; this includes navigating Windows file system, installing software, and using a multi-meter

- JCI
- Siemens
- Trane
- entroCIM
- Familiarity with IT systems
- OSHA 30 certification

- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with CMS Controls customers and coworkers, while supporting CMS Controls culture
