The Team
KFF’s Program on Medicaid and the Uninsured provides information and analysis on health care coverage and access for the low-income population with a special focus on Medicaid and coverage of people who are uninsured.
Your Role
KFF is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to develop and carry out policy and quantitative analyses related to Medicaid coverage and access for people with low-income.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct policy analysis of emerging issues in Medicaid and health coverage for low-income populations based on review of data, policy documents, proposals, regulations, or other secondary data and sources.
- Conduct quantitative analyses using large national survey data, Medicaid claims data and state-level databases. Tasks include developing research questions and analytic approaches and conducting data management and complex statistical analysis.
- Communicate complex information and analysis in writing policy briefs and through figures, tables, charts and other data visualizations.
- Keep abreast of new policy developments affecting the Medicaid program and coverage for the low-income population.
- Respond to media inquiries and present to outside groups.
Minimum Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience conducting policy and quantitative data analysis (time earning Master’s degree in public health, public policy, statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, or related field may count toward this requirement);
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state Medicaid and health coverage policy;
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal and through data visualization);
- Database and statistical programming expertise in R and experience conducting research and analysis using large administrative, survey, or health claims databases
- Ability to develop, initiate and conduct work independently and efficiently;
- Strong organizational and management skills and attention to detail;
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment; and
- Authorization to work in the U.S.

This full-time position will be based in KFF’s Washington, DC office, located downtown near Metro Center. KFF is currently working a hybrid schedule and requires all staff to work in the office a minimum of two days a week.
Compensation
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation includes an outstanding benefits package equivalent in value to approximately fifty percent of base salary including a generous and immediately vested defined contribution plan and zero-premium health coverage.
The annual salary range for the (Senior Policy Analyst) position is between $88,400-$110,000. Our job titles and salary ranges may span more than one career level, and the salary offered to a candidate will be determined based on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, job-related knowledge and skill set, depth of experience, certifications and/or degrees, and our practice of upholding salary equity within the organization.
