LPR International is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to support our client based in Cheverly, MD. The person in this position will perform work including but not limited to: screening, assessment, ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, making diagnoses, initiating and managing treatment, including prescribing medication and non-pharmacologic treatments. This role supports our client’s HIV/AIDS Program and is a temporary position through 2/28/2025.
Job Duties:
- Provide nursing care to individuals with HIV/STI Health needs.
- Coordinate care, counsel and educate patients, their families, and communities.
- Provide a wide range of health care services, including the diagnosis and management of acute, chronic, and complex health problems; health promotion; disease prevention; health education; and counseling to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
- Combine the roles of provider, mentor, educator, researcher, advocate, and administrator.
- Take responsibility for their continued professional development, involvement in professional organizations and participation in health policy activities at the local, state, national and international levels. Obtaining pertinent medical, surgical, and psycho-social history such as chief complaint, the onset of symptoms, nature of illness, duration of symptoms, drug sensitivity, and sexual contacts.
- Performs physical examinations of body systems as appropriate and develops medical diagnoses and appropriate patient treatment plans.
- Implements patient treatment plans by administering and prescribing medications/ immunizations, counseling patients, making referrals to other medical specialists, and performing necessary follow up consultation or treatment.
- Documents patient progress notes and consults with the Medical Director as necessary.
- Performs clinical procedures such as intradermal tests, phlebotomy, vaginal and anal specimen collection, LARC placement (i.e., IUD/Nexplanon) and medication administration.
- Adheres to all coding and billing guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Initiates care in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, and traumas.
- Adheres to patient scheduling policies, procedures and or instructions and must modify nurses of any schedule changes with 24 hours.
- Adheres to patient encounter documentation guidelines, policies/procedures and as required for accurate billing.
Requirements:
- Maintain an active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing or Compact state as appropriate.
- The practitioner is expected to provide services that are consistent with an ethical code of conduct, national certification, evidence-based principles, and current practice standards.
