Essential Functions:
- Planning and Coordination: Participate in the planning and coordination of commissioning activities, working closely with project managers, design engineers, construction teams, and other stakeholders. They ensure that commissioning activities are properly scheduled and executed according to project timelines.
- Installation Verification: Verify that electrical systems and equipment are installed according to building of design specifications (BOD), Owner’s project requirements (OPR), manufacturer’s recommendations, and applicable codes and standards. This involves reviewing electrical drawings, conducting site inspections, and ensuring proper wiring, connections, grounding, torque, Relays, Circuit breakers, transformers, and others for the High, Medium and Low Voltage equipment.
- Functional Testing: Perform functional tests on electrical systems and equipment to ensure they operate as intended. This may include testing components such as switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, relays, control panels, and other electrical devices to verify their performance and functionality.
- Performance Testing: Conduct performance tests to verify that electrical systems meet performance requirements under normal operating conditions as well as during peak loads or other demanding scenarios. This may involve testing parameters such as voltage levels, current levels, power factor, voltage regulation, and insulation resistance. Perform Power Quality test on the required equipment.
- Protection and Coordination Testing: Perform protection and coordination testing (SCCS) to ensure that protective devices such as relays and circuit breakers operate correctly and coordinate effectively to protect the electrical system from faults and overloads.
- Documentation: Document all aspects of the commissioning process from L1-L5, including test procedures, test results, equipment specifications, and any modifications or adjustments made during commissioning. Accurate documentation is essential for compliance, future reference, and handover to operations and maintenance teams.
- Training: Provide training to operations and maintenance personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. This helps ensure that personnel are familiar with the systems they will be responsible for operating and maintaining.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all commissioning activities are conducted in compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards to protect personnel and property. This includes implementing safety procedures, conducting risk assessments, and providing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Commissioning Reports: Finally, they compile commissioning reports summarizing the results of the commissioning process, documenting any issues or deficiencies identified, and providing recommendations for corrective actions or further optimization.
- The role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles (BSEE), practical experience with electrical systems and equipment, excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Other essential functions:
- Travel required to different sites. 75% of travel required.
- Perform a Daily report on site.
- Be professional in all aspects.
- Communicate professional to the GC, EC, and Owner
- Oversees meetings, schedules, and testing.
- Lead the Electrical job and perform a daily meeting with Owner, GC, EC and others.
- Electrical team lead on site.
- Responsible for expense reports and following company policies.
- Oversees the QA/QC and commissioning on their area of work.
- Strong Organizational and documentational skills
Skills and Requirements:
- Certificates and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s in science of electrical engineering.
- 3-5 years of working experience in Data Center
- HV Substations, MV SWGR, LV SWGR, Busway, UPS, Generator, PDU, RPP, others
- NFPA 70E
- OSHA 10
- Complete all Safety Certifications
- Load soak plan.
- Script development for L2-L5
- Daily Reports
- Knowledge on CAD, Bluebeam, others.
- Ability to work directly on site in GA, and ability to travel required
Working/ Environment/ Physical Demands to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Job Requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year.
- Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities.
- Work in restricted areas.
- Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses always), respirator when required.
- Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40-50 hours per week.
