The Vice President of Development will take responsibility for all software development within Cresset, leading the strategic direction and execution of the company’s development and devops teams and processes.

This role involves overseeing the development teams, managing key projects, and driving innovation to ensure the company’s growth and success. You will have a strong emphasis on security, proficiency across multiple programming languages and frameworks (particularly C++ (Qt), Python (Django), and JavaScript (Vue) and wide experience of different development methodologies. Experience in scientific software development or drug discovery solutions is highly desirable.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in development or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Skills: Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills. Proven ability to inspire team members, drive innovation and manage complex projects with diverse teams.
• Security Expertise: Extensive experience in implementing and managing security protocols and best practices.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in a wide range of programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, JavaScript) and development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, DevOps). Experience of modern IaC devops processes.
• Scientific Software Development: Ideally, experience in developing scientific software especially in the context of drug discovery solutions.

• Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of key development projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
• Security: Ensure all development processes and products adhere to the highest security standards, implementing best practices to protect data and systems.
• Innovation: Drive innovation in development processes and technologies to maintain Cresset’s competitive edge.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including marketing, sales, and product management, to support business development plans.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry leaders.
• Financial Management: Manage the development budget and ensure financial objectives are met.
