About the job:
Purpose of the Job
The Structural Supervisor is responsible for leading all structural, coating and fit-out activities in production of Anemoi’s Marine Equipment, and for confirming that the structural, coating and fit-out of the marine equipment under construction are in accordance with the manufacturing contract, specifications, and approved drawings. The role is part of the site supervision team reporting to the Production Manager and is the focal point for structural, coating and fit-out aspects of the Marine Equipment for the shipyard construction personnel. On successful construction and testing of the Marine Equipment the role will also involve the supervision of integration works at the shipyard at which the Marine Equipment will be installed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the structural, coating and fit-out are in accordance with contracts, specifications & approved drawings and work with and liaise with suppliers and partners to resolve any issues.
- Manage the structural, coating and fit-out inspection demand by coordinating the activities related to structural fabrications, coatings and fit out of the Marine Equipment.
- Confirm the competency of the structural team of hull and coating inspectors and ensure that they have all equipment and information available to them in order to perform their work.
- Lead the structural inspections and supervise testing (FAT, SAT) and be fully aware of the status of the equipment under construction in terms of their compliance with the contract, specifications and approved drawings.
- Report regularly, formally and informally, to the Site Manager & Production Manager any deviations from the contract or approved plans and to report any issues that may affect the delivery or finished standard, including certification and testing of the Marine Equipment.
- Be the main point of contact for structural issues (with support from Anemoi UK) related to the construction of the Marine Equipment and liaise with representatives of appropriate shipyard departments to discuss problems and recommend remedial action where standards are in question or where defects have been identified.
- Take part in FAT and SAT as directed by the Site Manager & Production Manager.
- Take part in Sea Trials as directed by the Site Manager & Production Manager.
- Take part in after sail service remotely or go onboard as directed by the Site Manager & Production Manager.
- Supervise structural integration work on the vessel, and on delivery of vessel structural integration works, formally confirm to the Site Manager & Production Manager that the installation is in compliance with the requirements of the contract, specification and approved plans.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive records of all tests and inspections on the company’s database in accordance with the project document management procedures.
- Develop and maintain a relationship of cooperation and mutual respect with supplier and partner
- Conduct an effective Management of Change process including comprehensive hand over notes to ensure continuity and full visibility of role prior to any period of leave or extended period of absence from the Site Team.
- Work safely and to be intolerant of unsafe acts or conditions. To promote good HSSEQ behaviours and to stop and report any unsafe acts. Liaise with the HSSEQ Manager and report any unsafe conditions.
- Review and approve supplier plans and drawings as required by the Engineering QA Process
- Comply with the company Code of Conduct
Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
- Have a very good understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes including structures and the application of coatings when making large Fabrications.
- Experience of supervising structural installations for Newbuild projects in Bulker/ Tanker sectors
- Experience with retrofit of technologies (Structural part) and supervising the installation from the start until successful completion.
Personal Qualities and Competences
- Lives or is willing to live close enough to Jiangyin or Jinjiang area to go there daily when necessary and at least weekly other times.
- Speak reasonable technical English; not 100% necessary but it would be helpful.
- Good comprehension of written technical English.
- Highly Trustworthy and confidential in relation to Intellectual Property
- Strong Problem solver
