Purpose of the role

 

Our team is now looking for an experienced individual who will be an integral part of the Business Development Team and work with the wider group to successfully take investment opportunities to the market.

 

Reporting to the Business Development Director (BDD), the primary objective of the BDM is to achieve their capital raising objectives by working effectively with their BDD and Associate Business Development Manager (ABDM) to execute the agreed sales plan for their portfolio. Whilst they don’t have direct line management responsibility for the ABDMs, they should act as a mentor to them and look to assist their development and progression within a growing team.

Key accountabilities

 

  • To develop a comprehensive understanding of the Ingenious Group and, specifically our investment products;
  • To have a strong understanding and knowledge of the wider marketplace in which Ingenious operates within including, but not limited to, wealth management, financial advice and alternative investments, as well as Inheritance Tax planning and Later Life planning;
  • To be responsible for raising capital by growing, managing and servicing relationships with key intermediaries across a specified product range to achieve certain business targets. Those intermediaries will primarily be financial advisers/wealth planners but may include accountants, private banks, lawyers and tax advisors;
  • To be an integral part of the Distribution team and work with the wider group to successfully take investment opportunities to market through successful collaboration with peers;
  • To successfully promote the Ingenious Group and our investments at face to face meetings, group presentations, industry events and on the phone. The BDM is a confident and capable presenter who can stand in for, or present alongside the BDD as necessary;
  • To be regarded as a trusted business partner by the relevant intermediaries;
  • To work closely with the BDD to organise and host events, seminars and presentations;
  • To be cognisant of potential new business opportunities within the market;
  • To act as a role model and mentor to ABDMs;
  • To follow the agreed sales methodology, building rapport, factfinding, disturbing and professionally positioning solutions to effect a change in adviser behaviour.

 

  Role requirements

 

  • Strong experience required within a similar role – a proven track record in owning and building a client base and relationship management within a financial intermediary sales environment;
  • Experience in sales of VCTs/EIS, Inheritance Tax / Estate Planning / Later Life or Trust based solutions preferred. Specific experience in Business Relief qualifying investments and relationships with Advisers who recommend such solutions is highly desirable;
  • Level 4 RDR qualified Financial Planner or equivalent; STEP qualifications and /or SOLLA accreditation desirable;
  • Demonstrates immediate gravitas, impact and credibility;
  • A confident and strong communicator and presenter, with the experience to professionally represent and sell complex structured products and other investment funds at a senior level;
  • A strong track record of networking, building and maintaining long term client relationships at all levels;
  • An appreciation of the structuring and wider tax advantages of financial products and an ability to communicate them at a high level and in depth;
  • Sound judgement, adaptability and the ability to influence others;
  • Commercial flair and an enthusiastic and progressive approach;
  • A driven, competitive individual with the ambition and the desire to achieve targets;
  • An entrepreneurial team player who can demonstrate proactiveness, enthusiasm and a ‘can do’ attitude.
