About the job:

A3 Technology, Inc. is seeking a Computer Scientist with, or that can obtain on-the-job training, system wide knowledge of the TFDM System to join our Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) program in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This position will be responsible for providing software/adaptation analysis, field support/problem investigation, data collection, software design/development, testing, lab support, technical writing and system integration for the TFDM program.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Proficiency and knowledge of real-time design, development, testing and interfacing of software and computer hardware systems.
  • Comprehensive software development skills and experience with programming languages used for National Airspace Systems (NAS) and NAS support systems.
  • Work specifically with the TFDM Adaptation and Software Teams using C/C++, Java, XML, shell scripting, database concepts (Postgres and/or Oracle), GIS Tools, Red Hat Linux, Ada, Redmine, Git and various homegrown tools.
  • TFDM lab assignments and data collection is essential.
  • Perform adaptation/software analysis and implement code fixes, adaptation changes and new functionality.
  • Provide support to the Field Adaptation Team and TFDM Labs.
  • Perform data collection, problem investigation and testing.
  • Perform peer/code reviews.
  • Write technical documentation and procedures.
  • Desk/lab located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center.
  • Telework two (2) days per week a possibility, but not guaranteed based on work assignments.
  • Limited (25% or less) travel to locations throughout the US.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required:

  • Technical Adapter/Software Developer with knowledge in C/C++, Java, XML, Shell Scripting, Java Script, Database Concepts, UNIX/LINUX and the ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Ability to work individually and within a group/team.
  • Ability to take direction and initiative; ability to provide direction and training.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.

Preferred:

  • Technical Adapter/Software Developer with the required knowledge plus Ada, Perl Scripting, Python, Geographic Information System (GIS) Tools and Red Hat Linux.
  • In addition, experience in TFDM/STARS/NAS, Test, Redmine (or another project management tool), Git (or another configuration management tool) and Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel).
  • Technical Adapter/Software Developer with the required and preferred knowledge plus experience in Red Hat Linux (7, 8, or 9), HTML/XML, QT, JSON, SQL, Python, Ansible scripting and System Engineering.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Math or other technical degree from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science and 5 years of related work experience in a computer science or math field OR
  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Math or other technical degree from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science and 3 years of related work experience in a computer science or math field.

Additionally, US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US is a must. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, candidates will undergo a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for Government clearance. Verification of past employment, education and references is also required. It is imperative that candidates be either a US citizen or a current green card holder with the last 3 consecutive years as a resident of the US.
