Manager, Public Relations and Communications, EMEA and APAC CONTRACT REMOTE POSITION

CONTRACT ROLE SUMMARY

The Manager of Public Relations and Communications for EMEA and APAC will drive GBTA’s regionally focused PR and Communications strategy and initiatives in EMEA (with a priority focus on Europe) along with a growing presence in APAC while also supporting key global projects. This role reports to the VP of PR, Communications and Research. PR/media relations experience, strategic planning expertise, critical thinking, attention to detail and collaborative, results-driven delivery are a must in this role.

Additionally, this person will work with GBTA’s EMEA/APAC, Marketing, Events and GBTA Foundation teams in an integrated effort for optimal outcomes including media / content development, events PR, executive communications and social media. Through strategic PR, media, and content initiatives and results, this role will help continue to grow GBTA’s voice, awareness, brand reputation, and member experience with a focus on community, learning, advocacy, and research. 

The ideal candidate is a motivated, strategic self-starter, PR/content creator, storyteller and project manager looking to bring their broad expertise and ideas to lead GBTA’s efforts in these regions.

SCOPE OF WORK – RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct and maximize proactive outreach, pitching, inquiry response and overall PR and media relations activities for the region.
    • Develop and drive PR and Communications strategy and initiatives for/during GBTA events and conferences in EMEA and APAC.
    • Develop, write, edit, and distribute communications and content such as press releases, newsletter content, blogs, speaker/executive presentations, and other external-facing communications.
    • Support and serve regional PR/Communications needs working directly and regularly with the EMEA and APAC teams and leaders as well as GBTA’s regional partners, advisory groups, and committees.
    • Drive the Broadcast Studio and Media/Journalist Program for the GBTA Conferences in Europe and APAC.
    • Develop and maintain regional PR/Communications metrics and analysis; monitor, analyze and assess PR and communications campaign results to ensure alignment with strategy.
    • Contribute and support integrated/Global Communications, Marketing, and/or Research special projects and campaigns as requested including the GBTA annual Global Convention.
    • Other tasks as assigned.

    CONTRACT DETAILS

    • Remote, Europe-based required. Active Passport required. 
    • Ideally located in UK. 

    SCOPE OF WORK – REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field.
    • 5+ years of related experience including for the European region.
    • Experience and strong commitment to quality and excellence in public relations / media relations strategies, engagement, and results.
    • Superior written and verbal communication including proven writing, editing, presentation development and proofreading skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external audiences.
    • Ability to work in a dynamic environment; excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, time management and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, high energy, and enthusiasm for teamwork across departments, deep commitment to success, and ownership of projects from start to finish are essential. 
    • Highly efficient and organized, and able to handle multiple tasks with ease and professionalism.
    • Strong technical skills, including cloud-based systems, program and project management, and interpersonal skills.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

    • Experience  with PR for Events and/or related to data/research is highly desirable.
    • Travel industry background and/or experience working in a non-profit membership-based organization preferred.
    • Experience with Cision or other PR automation tools, WordPress, Teams and/or Airtable.
    • Multi-lingual is a plus.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Remote work environment.
    • Prolonged periods sitting/remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to remain stationary and move for long periods of time, during events.
    • Must be able to show proof of vaccination and booster against COVID-19 in order to attend group functions and meetings, if required.
    • Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to accommodate various meetings and events.

    TRAVEL REQUIRED

    • Up to 15% of travel to events and meetings; based on organizational needs.
    • Travel to annual Convention, EMEA Conference, APAC Conference, other GBTA related events and meetings, as needed.

    Candidates must have valid passport.
