About the job:

AvaGro Sustainable Agricultural Solutions is looking for a professionally qualified, young and dynamic individual to join their small but passionate management team.

The Finance & Operations Manager is responsible for accurately capturing and recording the financial activity of the business – weekly and monthly reporting, processing monthly payroll, and performing general bookkeeping/administrative functions.

The Finance & Operations Manager ensures compliance with the company and local legislation, adherence to policies and procedures to ensure smooth functioning of the finance department.

Operationally, the role works in tandem with the CEO, overseeing and directing the operations of AvaGro including but not limited to optimizing operations, new projects, budgets, and overseeing sales and customer management. With responsibility for the entire supply chain, this includes streamlining resources, distribution of goods and services to customers ensuring on time delivery, every time.

A hands-on position, this person interacts with all staff on the farm and therefore strong interpersonal skills, building relationships and teams are essential.  The position will suit a highly energetic individual, who has a passion for the agricultural industry and who is looking to be part of a dynamic team which is growing.

Key areas of responsibility include – 

  • Financial Management and reporting, including management accounts, sales report analysis and yield records
  • Bank Liaison including preparation of reports for quarterly and annual facility review
  • Analyses the monthly performance against budgets and last year actuals. Controls the operational costs.
  • Preparing short and long term cashflow forecasts
  • Performs specific Product Profitability Analysis, plannings and formulating financial modelling and cost benefit analysis by identifying cost-reduction and process-optimization opportunities for business units (farms), projects and out grower projects.
  • Manages imports of goods and all related permits
  • Prepares logistic solutions including factors such as cost, available space, schedule, technical requirements.
  • Serves as first point of contact for customer queries and is responsible for the relationship management when required.
  • Works closely with the Pack House Manager to facilitate –
    • Accurate customer invoicing based on the available products and the customer’s order specifications.
    • Reconciliation of accurate invoicing (price, packs etc)
    • Pricing strategies for different off takers including promotions / special offers.
