Fire Systems Technician (Offshore/Onshore)

Martin’s is currently recruiting for a Fire Systems Technician to join our team.

The main duties of this position are to carry out inspections, repairs, and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers and fixed fire suppression systems.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Perform inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment in buildings, ships, and oil production facilities
• Preparation and completion of of system inspection and verification reports
• Instruct customers on the operation and proper use of their fire suppression equipment.

This role requires travel by helicopter or ship to offshore oil production platforms off the coast of Newfoundland, for up to 21 days at a time.

Skills, Education & Experience:

• Strong aptitude for mechanical systems; ability to work with your hands.
• Positive attitude, self-motivated, strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work well independently, with a strong desire to learn new skills.
• Strong customer service skills
• Attention to detail is a must

Preferred:

• 2-3 years’ experience in the fire safety industry, including the service and sale of fire extinguishers, fire alarms, and/or fire suppression systems.
• Background working with fire suppression systems and life safety devices is an asset, including in a marine transportation setting.
• Good understanding of building codes and regulations
• Skilled trade experience and/or education is an asset

Required:

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• A satisfactory Criminal Records Screening Certificate
• Within 3 months of the start of your employment, you must:
  • pass an offshore medical exam
  • successfully pass Basic Survival Training with HUET-HUEBA
