Formula Foods Quality Control Technician (Maternity Cover)

• Formula Foods Corporation Ltd, a 100% New Zealand owned flavour house company based in Christchurch, is seeking a dedicated Quality Control Technician for maternity cover, with the potential for extension. Founded in 1987, we are pioneers in the manufacturing of flavours and ingredients, supplying a wide range of products and services to the food manufacturing sector throughout New Zealand and overseas.Job DescriptionAs a Quality Control Technician, you will be responsible for performing quality control analysis to ensure all Formula Foods products and ingredients comply fully with specifications. This includes liquid and powder products, flavour/colour concentrates, ingredients, and other manufactured or co-manufactured items.Key Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis in quality control for all Formula Foods products.
  • Ensure all QC samples are received, tested, and approved before dispatch.
  • Maintain retention samples and ensure they are readily available when required.
  • Assist with the Formula Foods Food Safety Program (FSP).
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing as required.
  • Perform laboratory analysis procedures including density, brix, water activity, pH, sensory and other analytical testing.
  • Assist compliance to ensure accurate records of analytical data are filed and accessible.
  • Assist compliance with audits and related documentation.
  • Assist with the company’s Health & Safety Policy.
  • Promote Formula Foods interests through cooperation with other staff and departments.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workplace.
  • Observe all safety requirements and comply with Formula Foods Policy Manual.

  Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of chemistry and laboratory techniques.
  • Experience in quality control within the food manufacturing industry is preferred; full training will be provided.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality management systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Good sensory skill and experience
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and record-keeping.

  Preferred Skills

  • Experience with HACCP and other food safety standards.
  • Knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
