Heavy Civil Superintendent – Charlotte

Summary

Hi-Way Paving is seeking an experienced, hands-on leader to join our team as a Heavy Civil Superintendent.  This position will support the preparation and/or execution of slipform and fixed form paving operations and the construction finished pavements meeting stringent FAA, USACE, and various state DOT specifications. The Superintendent’s responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and supervising concrete paving field operations.

This position will begin at our job site in Charlotte, NC.  but will require future travel/ (up to 100%) to other regional job sites and projects. Example: Raleigh, NC, and Nashville, TN).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage several foremen.   
• Designates worker responsibilities and schedules workers, delivery of equipment and materials.
• Establish and communicate performance expectations, provide feedback, determine training and development needs, and conduct on-the-job-training.
• Inspect condition of grade, forms, and steel placement for compliance with specifications prior to concrete placements.
• Coordinate slipform paving operations using GOMACO paving equipment using stringless technology.
• Coordinate and implement fixed form paving operations.
• Monitor all placement, finishing, and curing operations for specification compliance.
• Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures that arise or may be encountered and take corrective action as needed.
• Perform and report time and cost coding for all supervised/managed employees.
• Monitor and help enforce safety rules and practices from all governing authorities and site-specific plans. 

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a construction/paving Foreman/Superintendent or related construction job-site management experience, preferred.
• Experience with GOMACO paving equipment, preferred.
• Enhanced training or certifications in safety and/or OSHA regulations, preferred.
• High degree of focus and attention to detail. 
• Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. 
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must be able to travel overnight to job sites up to 100% of the time. 
• Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high-security zones. (Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license required. 
• Physical capabilities required are climbing, lifting, carrying a minimum of 75 lbs., standing, sitting, walking, entering confined spaces, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and performing repetitive actions.
