The Role
The HR Team is seeking an energetic and motivated HR Assistant to join us for a 16-month contract. This role will support the team with both HR and Talent Acquisition and will take ownership of new hire onboarding. This position can be based in our Vancouver or Calgary office with a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
HR Administration (60%)
- Oversee the new hire onboarding process, including managing documents, scheduling orientations, integration meetings and welcoming new hires
- Offboarding for co-ops and interns (exit interviews, documentation, etc.)
- Presentations to employees regarding maternity/parental programs
- Respond to incoming HR inquiries and direct to team members as required
- Input HRIS data along with other information tracking, filing and notifications, as required
- Prepare general correspondence, such as employment confirmation letters, office transfers, etc.
- Gather and transmit information within our benefits management platforms
- Process HR team invoices and payments
- Contribute and lead internal process improvement projects
- Support and research for other HR initiatives, as required
Talent Acquisition Support (40%)
- Assist with job postings, resume and phone screening, coordinating interviews, and conducting reference and background checks
- Provide feedback and updates to candidates throughout the recruiting process
- Prepare documents for weekly recruiting meetings
- Support all aspects of our Co-op and Functional recruitment processes
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
- Certificate in Office Administration or Diploma specializing in Human Resources Management or other progressive post-secondary education in Human Resources is considered an asset
- A minimum of 2 years’ progressive administrative experience in a human resources or related environment
- Proficiency with MS Office, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion along with good judgment and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail, exceptional organizational and time management skills with changing priorities and deadlines
- Personal initiative and willingness to collaborate on process improvements; a curiosity to learn and grow with the team
- Professional and customer service oriented; ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

The estimated base salary range for this position is $50,000-$60,000 CAD per annum, however base pay will be commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. BGC’s compensation package also includes a training allowance and a comprehensive medical and dental plan.
