About the job:

POSITION PURPOSE

The primary function of this position is to plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.

 

Performance Measures:  A successful Human Resources Manager will produce positive outcomes in the following areas: recruiting, selection, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, payroll administration, benefits, compensation, time off and leave policies, policies and procedures, legal compliance.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (IN PRIORITY ORDER)

·         Recruiting, Selection, Hiring: Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies and develops job descriptions required for openings.

·         Onboarding: Conducts onboarding and orientation sessions, follows up with managers and employee at regular intervals to touch base on employee progress.

·         Employee Relations: Advises managers on employee relations issues.  In collaboration with managers, counsels and advises employees on questions and concerns regarding adherence to company policies. Conducts disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations. 

·         Employee Handbook: Updates and maintains Employee Handbook and communicates all changes to employees.

·         Policies and Procedures: In collaboration with management, updates and maintains consistent policies and procedures

·         Payroll Administration: Processes biweekly payroll for the organization.

·         HRIS System: Updates and maintains organization’s human resources information system.

·         Benefits Administration: Administers benefits programs for employees including insurance coverages, time off, and leave.  Recommends plan design changes for annual open enrollment and as needed if regulations change.

·         Compensation Administration: Administers compensation policy. Updates and maintains compensation analysis.

·         Legal Compliance: Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance

·         Professional Development: Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Other Duties as Assigned and that meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

 

EDUCATION& RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Education Level/ Years of Related Work Experience:

(minimum & preferred educational requirements necessary to perform this job successfully)

Required: Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 3 – 5 years Human Resources experience or combination of education and experience.

Skills and Knowledge

Proficiency in technical areas such as Microsoft Office; including Word, Outlook, Access, and Excel.

Excellent oral communication skills reflecting solid customer service both in-person and via the telephone;

Ability to relate well in cross-cultural environments;

Ability to effectively collaborate with staff;

Ability to use time effectively;

Ability to focus on details;

Ability to adapt to shifting priorities;

Ability to position and promote opportunities;

Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus

Ability and willingness to travel locally to meet agency needs

Ability to be creative and work within a limited budget while getting a high ROI

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Routine office environment.  Regular work week with occasional early evening or weekend hours.

Travel 10-15%
