Job Overview:

We are seeking an IT Manager who will ensure all employees have the necessary technology to perform their jobs efficiently. This includes providing reliable laptops, VPN access for remote workers, technical support, customer service, managing and supporting the IT team. The IT Manager will also coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure data security and the alignment of IT infrastructure with business goals.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prioritise IT support and IT client servicing daily across all stakeholders including staff, clients, partners, hosting environments and on prem self-hosted clients.
  • Report daily to the exco team on all support anomalies deemed to be a service delivery risk across all stakeholders including staff, clients, partners, hosting environments, and on prem self-hosted clients.
  • Engage daily with Executives, staff and all Cardinal users to ensure that all environments are optimal, and all IT services are running efficiently to guarantee a more efficient business.
  • Manage a daily checklist to test and check the uptime of all core systems and report formally to the business.
  • Ensure IT coverage on the floor between 07:00 am and 18:00 pm daily from Monday to Friday.
  • Ensure IT support is available for all project implementations that run outside of the standard business operating hours including weekends.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO27001 requirements.
  • Provide inspiring leadership to the IT team to motivate them to exceed the service standards and service delivery into the Cardinal business.
  • Take a leadership role in large IT projects, including designing and deploying new IT management, infrastructure management, process optimisation and compliance-related systems and services.
  • Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
  • Help define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes.
  • Analyse business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organisation to develop solutions for IT needs.
  • Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT.
  • Managing the IT Team and the support desk function.
  • Monitor and evaluate monthly billing for accuracy and invoicing to customers.
  • Negotiating with suppliers on asset acquisition and ensuring the best product is sourced at competitive prices.
  • Ensuring supplier services are in line with signed SLAs in place.
  • Running regular checks on network and data security.
  • Maintaining regular network uptime and managing information technology and computer systems, including server room, LAN, Wireless connectivity, office infrastructure, etc.
  • Preserve assets, information security and control structures (e.g., Google Workspace).
  • Make recommendations to the Executive to enhance, optimize and future-proof our IT and hosting environment.
  • Ensure that your physical presence in the office creates clear visibility to all stakeholders concerning the support service you provide, the strategic contribution you make and ongoing participation in daily support issues.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • An IT-related Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Good understanding of firewalls and routing
  • Hardware System Architecture and Design including:
    • Hardware configurations (App, Web, and Database domains)
    • Operating systems
    • Firewalling and Security
  • Virtualization and cloud hosting are a must
  • Managing a contractual and physical relationship with a 3rd party hardware hosting service provider.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in IT operations
