Job Captain

Wallman Architects is hiring for a seasoned Job Captain – Mid and High Rise Residential, Mixed Use Architecture. This individual will have the opportunity to work alongside key members of the practice assisting as a team leader and mentoring staff.

At Wallman Architects, Job Captain role is a project-dedicated role, responsible for the day-to-day organization, development and coordination of Construction Documentation. Job Captains work directly with Project Architects from Design Development to completion of Construction Documents.

Understanding of construction practices, Construction detailing are essential to this role.

Responsibilities:

• Document and coordinate drawing packages from Design Development, into Permitting, Tendering and through to Issued for Construction
• Develop architectural plans, elevations, sections and details, and review the work of others
• Work closely with the Project Architect to coordinate project team members and consultants
• Apply knowledge of construction practices and methods to ensure design intent
• Keeping up to date on construction practices, products, codes and technology
• Work with Contract Administrator during construction to assist in the review of Shop Drawings and preparation of Site Instructions

Qualifications:

• University Degree in Architecture or Diploma in Architectural Technology or current OAA member
• Minimum 5 years of related architecture experience; mid and high-rise residential, mixed use experience would be considered an asset
• Proficiency in the following software:
  • AutoCad and/or REVIT
  • SketchUp
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Working knowledge and/or interest in other BIM and 3D modelling software and tools would be an asset.
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Proficiency with Ontario Building Systems and Ontario Building Code
• Strong relationship building skills
• Strong leadership skills, possess ability to lead and mentor junior & intermediate team members
• Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities
• Site Experience would be an asset.
