Position Description:
The director of clinical services is responsible for clinical support for formulary development and maintenance, pull-through development, and drug information services.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Must be a practicing physician with a valid license
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in a health care organization.
- Licenses, Certifications: Must be licensed and approved by the State of Alaska Board of Medical Examiners.
- Specialized Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills – precise and descriptive when communicating expectations and objectives creating open lines of communication with clinical and administrative staff.
- Preferred Qualifications: Managed care/general clinical residency. At least 1 year of managed care experience. At least 2 years of formulary management experience.
Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Provides both administrative and clinical services to BFC.
- Is the liaison between administration and medical staff.
- Member of the Senior Management Team for BFC and regularly reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Oversees the credentialing and privileging of the medical providers, including physicians and mid-levels.
- Management of the BFC Dispensary.
- Provides clinical information to support contracting strategies.
- Responsible for the management of the medical services personnel.
- Works with senior management to design clinical intervention programs that result in better quality care and cost savings for the client.
- Ensures that pharmacotherapy treatment recommendations in the disease management program are consistent with formulary initiatives.
- Serves as a liaison to pharmaceutical companies to coordinate clinical initiatives.

Supervisory:
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
