OSC Support Lead Strategist

The OSC Support Lead Strategist provides and coordinates the necessary support, resources, supervision, and leadership to ensure that ECEs in all 1st Class programs have the tools and resources needed to provide and create developmentally appropriate and inclusive environments for all children in accordance with the program’s goals, the philosophy and policies of 1st Class, and in strict compliance with the Alberta ChildcareLicensing Act.

The OSC Support Lead Strategist reports to the Executive Director, OSC Program Support and Management team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Observe and assess children’s social, emotional, and behavioural needs and their impact on their functioning within the program.
• Working with program directors and staff to adapt and modify activities and environments and provide support to optimize each child’s participation and progress.
• Collaborates with the Director, OSC program support to develop training materials and offer coaching, mentorship, and training to OSC staff.
• May be required to support children directly to help build and encourage positive behaviours while in the OSC setting.
• Providing support and resources to team members to facilitate goal progress.
• Assisting the Director, OSC program support, to provide support, services and resources to families in transition to Kindergarten.

• Supporting staff in any of the 1st Class OSC locations when needed.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

• Completion of a Graduate Degree in Applied Behavioural Analysis, Psychology, Education, or another field with a specialization in Emotional Behavioural needs and training in assessment measures.
• Preference of two years’ experience working as a Behaviour Specialist/Strategist, Support Worker, developmental specialist or similar role.
• Preference of experience working with the Early Childhood population.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, public relations and teamwork skills.
• Strong professional communication, including verbal and written.
• Initiative to set priorities and identify plans of action.
• Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, children, and community partners
• Have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel
• Lifting and carrying demands may be required; the ability to bend at the waist, stoop, twist, stand, walk and sit frequently. The ability to lift/push/pull/carry between 10 to 50 lbs.

• Current Police Information Check (Vulnerable sector, must be within the last six months).
