We are now accepting applications for a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our financial team.
Under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator will manage agency employee benefits and compensation systems.
Hours / Schedule:
- 40-hour work week.
- Primarily days Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
- Hours of work may occasionally fluctuate to accommodate the work load demands of the position.
- Vacation leaves will generally be scheduled to avoid disruption to payroll administration processes.
Responsibilities:
- Cooperate with the Finance team to integrate payroll and benefits administration and costing with agency accounting processes.
- Provide data-entry and other supports to the Finance team to maintain agency accounting processes.
- Collect, verify and process employee timesheets and payroll information.
- Identify and monitor pay and benefit entitlements.
- Calculate payroll deductions.
- Run bi-monthly payroll, and submit to banking for auto-deposits.
- Remit payroll information, payroll deductions and mandatory employer costs to CRA on a bi-monthly basis.
- Manage and update employee payroll records – reconcile payroll data to confirm accuracy.
- Cooperate with agency Leadership to establish and maintain agency compensation structures and benefit plans.
- Liaison with Benefits service providers.
- Manage employee benefit eligibility and registration.
- Keep employees informed of changes to the company’s payroll and benefits structure.
- Confirm payroll and benefits systems and processes are in accordance with legal requirements.
Preferred Education and Experience:
A degree in a relevant discipline (ie: Accounting, Bookkeeping or Business Administration or similar) is desired; however candidates with a diploma certificate and relevant experience will be considered.
To be successful in your role, you’ll also need to:
- Be detailed oriented, organized and efficient
- Be skilled at managing multiple concurrent projects, assignments and tasks requested from multiple sources.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.
- Work effectively as part of a team, and independently.
- Demonstrate discretion, and maintain confidentiality regarding agency Finance and staff information.
- Demonstrate a high level of computer literacy, including competence in the use of commonly used payroll and software programs such as Sage, Simply Accounting and Microsoft Office Professional Suite.

Wage / Benefits:
$4550 to $4850 per month, based on relevant experience and education.
Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions); as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% – above BC Employment Standards!
