The Intermediate Pipeline Project Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for providing critical support for pipeline engineering activities across various Engineering and EPCM projects. This position entails delivering technical and project engineering outputs for a range of projects, including Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Design, valve replacements, new large barrel facilities, geohazard pipeline section replacements, CSA station upgrades, CSA compressor stations, and meter stations. A robust foundation in mechanical engineering principles applicable to pipeline systems and facilities is essential for success in this role.
Accountabilities
- Facilitate engineering activities during the FEED and Detailed Design phases, ensuring compliance with project specifications, company standards, and pertinent regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering deliverables for projects, which encompass valve replacements, new barrel facilities, geohazard-related pipeline section replacements, and CSA station upgrades.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to devise mechanical engineering solutions for pipeline systems and facilities, including compressor stations and meter stations.
- Provide technical support to the Project Manager and team to achieve project objectives concerning quality, cost, and schedule adherence.
- Participate in the preparation and review of project scopes, proposals, and technical documentation during the bidding process and client engagement meetings.
- Engage in field reviews to support construction activities, offering decision-making assistance and responses to Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Leverage mechanical engineering expertise to design and evaluate pipeline systems and associated facilities, ensuring conformity with industry standards (including CSA, ASME, and API).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia and Alberta.
- Between 6-12 years of experience in pipeline engineering or pipeline facilities engineering, encompassing projects such as valve replacements, barrel facilities, geohazard pipeline replacements, and CSA station upgrades.
- 2-3 years of experience within a consulting environment, providing engineering support for external client projects.
- 2-3 years of experience as a Project Engineer, involved in project management activities and oversight of engineering deliverables. – Profound knowledge of CSA, ASME, and API standards relevant to pipeline engineering.
- A solid mechanical engineering foundation, including experience with pressure vessels, piping systems, valves, and mechanical design principles applicable to pipeline and facility contexts.
Skills
- Demonstrated technical mechanical engineering abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively across various engineering disciplines.
- Experience working in a consulting context, engaging with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver engineering solutions.
- Familiarity with pipeline and facility codes, including but not limited to CSA, ASME, and API.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, facilitating effective interaction with team members, project managers, site managers, and clients.
- Proven experience in the design and support of the mechanical components of pipeline systems, which includes compressor stations, meter stations, and valve sites.
- Strong organizational skills, with the aptitude to manage multiple tasks and establish work priorities effectively.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team, exhibiting initiative and proficiency in problem-solving.
- Conflict resolution skills and a capacity to contribute positively to team performance in engineering projects.
