Job Purpose and Position Overview

All positions at HealthWell are designed to proactively further its efforts in meeting its mission. Specifically, people in this position provide expertise to the Foundation in the areas of accounting and financial oversight in cooperation with HealthWell’s Finance department. The Senior Accountant will be heavily involved in reconciliation and business processes including prepaids and other asset and liability accounts.
After successful completion of onboarding activities as determined by the Chief Financial Officer, people in this position are expected to be in-office at least three days per week in accordance with the Foundation’s telecommuting policy.

Areas of Responsibility
The Senior Accountant is an integral part of HealthWell’s efficient and effective Finance Department with the following responsibilities:
             • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
             • Monthly reconciliation of agency transactions, including needed reporting requirements.
             • Prepares and reviews day-to-day and month end close entries, including fringe, indirect, investment and grant                          allocations.
             • Complete journal entries as required for successful monthly closing.
             • Review monthly subsequent cash disbursements.
             • Researching and correcting account discrepancies.
             • Assist with the preparation of monthly invoicing and drawdowns for specific awards as needed.
             • Assist with audits (internal and external), 990 tax return preparation, annual budget preparation.
             • Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
Technical Qualifications & Education Requirements
            • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
            • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience.

            • Experience using accounting software.
            • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
            • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite products.

Preferred Competencies (if applicable only/not required)
            • CPA or CPA in progress
            • Experience in non-profit accounting.
            • Willingness to explore emerging accounting technologies.
            • Excellent problem-solving skills.
            • Experience using Multiview ERP system.
