Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Furniture Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in applying various finishes to wooden furniture, including staining, painting, and sealing, and will ensure a flawless, high-quality appearance for each piece. You’ll work on custom projects, bringing designs to life with precision and an eye for colour and detail.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation: Sand, clean, and prepare furniture surfaces, ensuring they are free from dust, grime, or imperfections that could affect the final finish.

Painting and Finishing: Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and other finishes to furniture according to project requirements. Achieve a smooth, even finish using brushes, rollers, spray guns, or other appropriate tools.

Colour Matching: Mix colours and shades to match specific client or design requirements accurately.

Detailing: Work with intricate designs and stencils, adding decorative finishes and ensuring even application on complex surfaces.

Quality Control: Inspect finished products for consistency, colour, and smoothness. Make any necessary touch-ups to meet quality standards.

Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.

Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and regulations, including the proper handling of paints, stains, and other chemicals.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 7 years in furniture painting or a similar role, with experience in high-end or custom furniture a plus.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in painting techniques and familiarity with different types of paints, stains, and finishes.

Attention to Detail: Ability to achieve smooth, precise, and high-quality finishes with a keen eye for colour consistency and quality.

Knowledge of Materials: Understanding of different wood types and how they respond to paints and finishes.

Colour Vision: Strong colour recognition and matching ability.

Physical Stamina: Ability to perform tasks that may require standing for long periods, bending, and lifting materials.

Preferred Qualities

Knowledge of environmentally friendly and low-VOC painting practices.

Artistic or creative background for working with decorative finishes and custom designs.

Excellent time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
