Spark Academy Custodian

Spark Academy is an innovative, mixed-income early care and learning program setting a high standard of excellence in the community; we are seeking a qualified. hardworking, trustworthy, and committed custodian to ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of our facility.

POSITION DETAILS

• Reports To: Director of Spark
• $15 per hour / 20-25 hours per week
• Monday – Friday 3:00pm – 7:00pm (unless closed due to nationally observed holiday)

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting all areas of the facility, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Sanitize toys, surfaces, and equipment regularly to maintain a clean and hygienic environment for children and staff.
• Empty and clean waste receptacles and dispose of trash in accordance with facility guidelines and regulations.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.
• Select and use cleaning agents and chemicals that are safe for the environment and children, following manufacturer instructions and facility guidelines.
• Maintain knowledge of proper dilution ratios and application methods for cleaning solutions to ensure effective and safe use.
• Store cleaning agents and chemicals securely and in accordance with safety regulations to prevent unauthorized access and minimize risks to children and staff.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must pass a NC Division of Child Development & Early Education criminal background check.
• Physical ability (able to exert up to 30 pounds of force) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
• Be positive, approachable, and professional in interactions with parents/guardians, staff, students, and community members.
• Effective communicator.
• Possess dependable mode of transportation.
