Cook Inlet Region, Inc is seeking a talented Sr. Recruiter to join our HR team. CIRI’s offices are conveniently located in mid-town Anchorage at the Fireweed Business Center, a modern building that represents CIRI’s cultural diversity, respect for the land, and sustainability. The Fireweed Business Center reflects our heritage in the displayed Alaska Native art and interior design.

General Function

In alignment with CIRI’s mission and values, responsible for partnering with hiring managers to strategize, source, screen and facilitate the end-to-end recruitment process. This position plays a critical role in sourcing top talent and fulfilling recruitment needs efficiently and effectively.

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

  • Perform day-to-day recruiting activities including but not limited to:
    • Posting and closing jobs
    • Ensuring jobs are posted broadly to attract a wide and diverse pool of applicants
    • Screening applicants for minimum qualifications
    • Scheduling and conducting interviews
    • Attending interviews and taking relevant interview notes
    • Providing relevant and insightful feedback to hiring managers
    • Creating and maintaining recruitment files
    • Maintaining applicant tracking
    • Providing recruitment metrics
  • Assist with developing job descriptions that clearly and accurately define key responsibilities, qualifications, knowledge and skills necessary for the job.
  • Develop effective interview questions that are job-specific to ensure hiring managers can assess a candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications and compatibility.
  • Develop offer letters for selected candidates, ensuring accuracy, compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policy, and clearly defined terms such as compensation, benefits and employment conditions.
  • Work with hiring managers to understand staffing and hiring needs and how recruiting will support or facilitate the recruitment and hiring process.
  • Communicate with candidates on recruitment statuses, promoting a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
  • Develop and implement innovative and pro-active strategies to source, advertise, and network to engage talent.
  • Coordinate and arrange travel for candidates on an as-needed basis. This includes scheduling transportation, lodging, and other accommodations to ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Conduct research on state-specific recruitment regulations to ensure all recruiting practices follow applicable federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to equal employment opportunity, immigration, FLSA, and any other relevant agencies.
  • Ensure all recruiting practices follow local, state and federal regulations including EEO and Title VII.
  • Promote CIRI’s Shareholder/Descendant Hire Preference and adherence to affiliated policies, procedures and tracking requirements.
  • Develop external professional relationships and strategic partnerships, by attending events and job fairs and proposing programs to relay CIRI’s brand and attract talent.
  • Identify effective recruitment strategies and keep a pulse on recruitment trends.
  • Assist with the implementation of recruitment software.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned.

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and industry-standard computer software and databases.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to look at situations analytically, make decisions, solve problems and exercise well-thought good judgment.
  • Superior organizational, follow-up and detail-oriented skills.
  • Knowledge of ANCSA corporations and the businesses and activities of CIRI, its subsidiaries and its non-profit agencies.
  • High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.

                                                                                                                   

Physical Abilities

  • Fine motor skills for use of computers, with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time.
  • Visual ability adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Communication ability adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion.
  • Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis.

                                                                                                                   

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or other area applicable to the position preferred.
  • Five or more years’ recruitment experience that illustrates knowledge of all segments of the recruitment process.
  • Experience recruiting employees nationally preferred.
  • PHR strongly preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
