Job Description Overview: The instructor will be responsible for providing high- quality instruction over plant-specified machine operations with an emphasis on proficiency in lathe operations. They must provide instruction over the fundamentals of choosing the correct measuring tools. Create a curriculum that focuses on providing students with the skills and objectives through hands-on instruction. They must report and maintain documentation of students progress, attendance, and performance. Perform other duties that are assigned. The instructor may be required to work with industry to create a customized curriculum that fits their needs and schedule. Develop lesson plans and create hands-on learning activities. They must have a strong background working in the industrial industry and have a strong passion for teaching, supporting, and preparing students to reach their educational goals.
Job Description Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate on how to properly use tools and equipment while instructing students.
- Be sure to always supervise all hands-on activities.
- Performs other duties that are assigned.
- Educate students on the functional use of engine lathe components.
- Educate students on establishing a match of cutting speeds and feeds to materials.
- Educate students on the importance of safety procedures and practices.
- Instruct students on adjusting machine accessories properly.
- Educate students on choosing the correct measuring tool for the right materials.
- Educate students on how to read units and metrics.
- Educate students on how to measure with units and metrics.
- Provide students with hands-on training in using micrometers, depth micrometers, bore micrometers, thread gauges, and veneer calipers.
- Provides an engaging, supportive, and positive learning environment.
- Clearly establishes expectations for learning and achievement.
- Communicates well with students and staff.
- Make sure safety measures are used at all times and the learning environment is safe for all students and staff.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements and standards in machine operations.
- Plan, develop, teach, and facilitate classes that involve theoretical and hands-on learning where students can gain the knowledge that is needed.
- Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, maintain student progress, performance and records.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program goals and student success.
- Keep track of students’ attendance, participation, progress and grades.
- Able to develop daily lesson plans and design learning activities.
- Must be able to set up lab equipment for each class and oversee the labs when they are being used by students.
- May be required to work with industry to create a customized curriculum that fits their needs and schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Mastery of skill in industrial machining and measuring tools.
- Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, cooperative, and dependable.
- Great communication skills.
- Must be able to work evenings if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching or training experience in a technical field.
Physical Requirements:
- To be able to stand for long periods of time.
- To be able to lift moderate weights of materials, equipment, and supplies.
