Role Summary: As a Volunteer WordPress and IT Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our website, which serves as a vital communication tool for our organization. This position requires expertise in WordPress, Linux servers, and associated web technologies. You will be responsible for the installation, upgrading, and management of our WordPress site, ensuring its optimal performance and security. This role offers the flexibility of remote work and requires a commitment of up to 5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and manage the WordPress platform, ensuring the website is operational and secure.
- Regularly update WordPress, plugins, and themes to their latest versions, addressing any compatibility issues that arise.
- Monitor website performance, implementing enhancements to improve speed and user experience.
- Manage Linux server environments, ensuring they are secure, up-to-date, and optimized for WordPress hosting.
- Implement and maintain website backups and disaster recovery plans.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and update website content, ensuring it aligns with our mission and community outreach goals.
- Provide technical support and guidance for website-related issues.
- Stay informed on the latest trends and best practices in WordPress and web technology to recommend improvements.
Qualifications:
- Experience in managing WordPress websites, including installation, upgrading, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of Linux server management, web hosting environments, and database administration.
- Familiarity with web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript) and website security best practices.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with a remote team.
