Job Description

About the job:

ABOUT HELCIM

Helcim was founded with a mission at heart: to be the world’s most loved payment system. We believe that by offering small businesses in North America a decidedly human payment solution where it is easier to sign up and use while being transparent and affordable, we can empower them to grow and prosper. Simply put, helping small businesses thrive is at the very core of our business model, and we think that’s a great way to do business.

From the very start, we knew that we wanted to be different from every payment processor out there. We want the merchants we serve to feel supported and see us as a trusted partner rather than simply just another “cost of doing business.” We are relentless in our pursuit to provide a radically transparent and honest payments solution that flat out saves business owners money, all while treating them like human beings.

THE POSITION

Since launching our payment service 2020 we’ve established a strong service offering that is showing to be highly desirable in the marketplace. With our recent Series B capital raise, we now have the capital to go capture a wide range of GTM opportunities. These include the acceleration of our inbound and outbound direct-SMB sales efforts, franchise  opportunities, as well as the deployment of our new channel partnerships through regional banking partners, accounting partners, and SaaS / platform integration partners, and more.

We need a VP of Growth that is a strong executor. Someone who is hyper organized, thinks in systems, breaks large strategies down to actionable initiatives, sets high-standards and a high-tempo, and has strong experience in leading sales organizations. The ideal leader for this role will have a strong foundation in sales, marketing, and business development, paired with comprehensive expertise in B2B and/or B2C business models. This strategic professional will guide the alignment of revenue functions, refine sales operations, and enhance marketing strategies. Our Marketing team, Channel Partnerships Team and our Sales and Success team will be reporting directly to this role.

Here are the things you’ll own day to day:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy across all customer segments and verticals, ensuring alignment with Helcim’s goals and vision.
  • Identify new market opportunities, verticals, and geographic regions to fuel expansion and revenue generation.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and competitors to identify areas for innovation and differentiation.

Merchant Acquisition & Retention

  • Work with marketing leadership to develop acquisition strategies across multiple channels, including paid media, SEO/SEM, and content marketing.
  • Optimize the customer lifecycle to increase retention, reduce churn, and improve customer lifetime value (CLTV).
  • Develop targeted growth campaigns for different customer segments (small businesses, enterprise clients, developers, etc.) to maximize acquisition and retention.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Oversee data analysis efforts to measure, track, and optimize all growth initiatives, leveraging tools like Google Analytics, HubSpot, Salesforce, and other performance tracking platforms
  • Establish KPIs to measure success, including customer acquisition cost (CAC), CLTV, churn rate, conversion rates, and net revenue retention (NRR).
  • Implement A/B testing and other optimization strategies to drive continuous improvement across marketing and sales funnels.

      Partnerships & Business Development

      • With the Head of Channel Partnerships reporting to you, you will identify and develop strategic partnerships with key players in the payments ecosystem (e.g., banks, financial institutions, fintech startups) to enhance product distribution and customer acquisition.
      • Build and manage a channel partner ecosystem, including affiliate networks and resellers.

      Marketing & Brand Growth

      • With the Director of Marketing reporting to you, you will oversee all aspects of marketing strategy, including brand awareness, lead generation, content strategy, performance marketing, and public relations.
      • Work closely with the product and design teams to ensure Helcim’s value proposition is clearly communicated and resonates with target audiences.
      • Optimize marketing spend to ensure efficient customer acquisition and return on investment (ROI).

      Sales & Success

      • As the VP of Growth, you would work with both the Sales and Customer Success teams to establish a unified strategy focused on growing the business through both new merchant acquisition and existing customer expansion/retention.
      • You will use data and analytics to continually optimize both teams’ performance such as using cross-functional data (e.g., merchant acquisition cost vs. merchant lifetime value) to refine both teams’ strategies and ensure the overall growth strategy is sustainable.
      • The VP of Growth will also be key in establishing shared KPIs, targets, and key performance metrics that both teams contribute to. These could include New Merchant Acquisition, churn rates, building out a commission structure.

      Team Leadership & Collaboration

      • Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional growth team, including marketers, analysts, and sales professionals.
      • Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation, encouraging team members to test new ideas and iterate quickly.
      • Collaborate with the product, engineering, sales, and customer success teams to ensure a unified approach to driving growth and improving the customer experience.

      Revenue Growth & Financial Oversight

      • Work closely with the finance team to track the effectiveness of growth initiatives and provide regular updates to executive leadership.
      • Forecast growth and revenue targets in collaboration with the CEO and CFO, ensuring alignment with financial goals.

      Tech Enablement & Tools

      • Oversee the optimization and integration of the tech stack, including marketing automation, CRM, analytics, and customer engagement tools.
      • Ensure the team is utilizing the most efficient and effective tools to scale marketing and growth efforts.

      A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

      • 10+ years of experience in growth, marketing, or revenue leadership roles within the fintech or payments industries.
      • Proven track record of scaling customer acquisition, improving retention, and driving growth in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
      • Expertise in growth marketing channels (SEO/SEM, paid media, social media, content marketing, etc.)

      KEY COMPETENCIES

      • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
      • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience building and leading cross-functional teams.
      • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to executive leadership and investors.
      • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
