What you must have to apply
- Current California Professional Civil Engineering license.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited school
- Three (3) or more years of full time experience as an Assistant Engineer II, or
- Four (4) years of full time experience as a combination of Junior Engineer and Assistant Engineer I, and one (1) year full time experience as an Assistant Engineer II, or
- Five (5) years full time post graduate experience at an engineering firm performing engineering related assignments such as drafting, plan preparation, calculations, estimates, specifications, and/or field inspections, with one (1) of those years having exposure to project management including client communication, assisting in the preparation of proposals, estimates and contracts, and monitoring/controlling the project budget, scope, communication, QA/QC, milestones, timelines, billing, and allocation of resources
Yours Skills
- Knowledge in the principals, practices, and techniques for civil engineering
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, ordinances, codes and policies.
- Organized and efficient; skilled at multi-tasking
- Outstanding communication, written and oral, and interpersonal skills
- Aptitude for critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
- Ability to make complex computations and to develop plans, calculations, and specifications
- Ability to assist in the development, implementation and support of all policies, procedures, and systems
- Strong working knowledge AutoCAD, specifically Civil 3D, and Suite of Microsoft Office Products
- Proficient in the use of personal computers
- Focused development of skills for project management, leading a team, delegating tasks and managing budgets
- Expanded knowledge of Survey practices in both a field and office setting
Your Job Responsibilities
- Under general direction and limited supervision, supervises and performs responsible engineering work.
- Serves as a Project Manager including preparation of project scopes and estimates and client / design team communication for contracted projects.
- Responsible for projects from start to finish that include minor internal or external subcontractor coordination, communication, and management.
- Works with professional staff and project teams to assess and meet engineering needs, requirements, and deadlines.
- Responsible charge of work performed including stamp and sign prepared plans and documents with QA/QC of a Senior Engineer or above.
- Acts in the absence of a Senior Engineer.
- Performs internal QA/QC on other engineer’s work products.
- Determines project invoicing, controls budget and meets client satisfaction goals.
- Develops estimates, scope of work and contract documents with guidance from Senior engineer or above.
- Prepares calculations, plans, details, and specifications.
- Initiates applications and documents with general guidance from Senior engineer or above.
- Performs job site visits and inspections, meets with clients, contractors, agencies, etc.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay Rate – $86,207 to $110,080 based on relevant experience
- Medical Insurance – stipend that may cover up to 100% of premium
- Dental Insurance – 100% paid by NorthStar
- Vision Insurance – 100% paid by NorthStar
