AUI Power is a leading contractor in the Electrical Utility Industry.  We have an immediate opening for an experienced trainer in our Overhead Lines department.  This is a full-time position working with our crews in the Capitol Heights and Southern Maryland areas.  You will collaborate and coordinate with our training department and apprenticeship instructors in our Elkton, MD headquarters.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in Electrical Overhead Utility Construction with knowledge and experience from the meter to the Generating station.  AUI Power has a state approved apprenticeship program that will serve as the basis for all training activities that will be performed. This is a hands-on field trainer position. You will work with the apprentices in the field and assist them with proper techniques, step by step execution and safe work practices.  Classroom and improvised real life situations will be utilized in some scenarios.  

Responsibilities:

• Conduct training in shop/yard and classroom
• Contributes to development of training manuals & programs
• Trains to the standards of AUI training programs
• Obtains equipment and materials for training
• Maintain training equipment & supplies
• Teaches & evaluates apprentice critical tasks
• Manages apprentice skill assessment placement testing
• Responsible for Safety, Quality, & Efficiency of employees being trained

 Qualifications:

• 15+ years of utility experience
• Strong electrical theory knowledge
• Passion to help others gain knowledge
• Implement diagrams, models, & examples
• Must have strong attention to detail
• Must be able to climb, operate equipment, lift up to 50lbs
• Must have clear knowledge and proficient use of utility tools
• Adaptable – adapt schedule to accommodate apprentice training schedule at times.
• Computer skills: file structure, word, powerpoint, research
• Preferred Experience: includes prior training instructor, Apprenticeship graduate as well as experienced lineman. A Commercial Driver’s License and Bucket Truck operator experience is mandatory.
